:: Packing up.. ::

am moving in about 3 weeks' time, on Dec the 18th.

i've gone from being an easterner (Bedok: 1986-1990) to a north-easterner (Serangoon: 1990-1994) to an easterner (Tampines: 1994-2005) and back to a north-easterner again (Serangoon 2005-?). sure i may have friends who have never moved their entire life, and may consider me a nomad.

but no. you haven't met my tomodachi.

speaking of tomodachi, he comes back today!

anyway i was sifting through some old stuff, and realise how precious some of them are.

my bro, cousin and myself used to be crazy about a certain little frog when we were young..

no lah not the Clean and Green frog.

KEROPPI!!

we loved keroppi so much my cousin and brother have more 10 frog plushies for varying sizes and authencity. also, they had every imaginable keroppi merchandise they could lay their hands on. we'd hang out every saturday to make "froggy magazines" (which i still keep every issue of) and other assorted paper-medium stuff. we had a club of course. with 3 members. in primary school, i'd make my art and craft keroppis whenever possible. i have a keroppi collage, poster, and gunny sack craftwork.

i even recorded froggy songs on cassette tape and my mum laughed super hard when she heard it just now. it'd better not end up in the wrong hands or i'll be blackmailed for sure. in it were parodies of cartoon themes and a certain year's NDP songs. we were so creative then. but education ruined it all.

here! i took a peekchure of my froggy stuff:

the size of the photo betrays its actual grandeur. view the bigger version here.

the few coloured cards you see in the foreground (gold, pink and cyan) are membership cards! one of them has my picture and thumbprint on it even. also.. my pride and joy: eight issues of Froggy Magazines!

ahh... good 'ol froggy days..

:: Do you know.. ::

that you were the reason for Christmas?

on that first Christmas two thousand and five years ago an angel descended from the heavens and told the virgin mary that she would bear the Son of Man, sent to live in the flesh amongst sinners and die for their sins upon the cross when He was thirty three.

there were no Orchard Road lights.
just a lone, bright star in the sky.

no traffic jams or human crowds.
just three wise men, riding on their horses in the desert, following the only source of light.

no stockings filled with presents overnight.
just the gifts the men brought that were fit for the King. gold, myrrh and frankincense.

no santa.
just a lone baby in a manger, no crib for a bed, whose humble birth betrays His glory and majesty.

On Christmas, God didn't promise a holiday to europe, carollers at your door, a big feast of turkey and wine, dinner at Swensens with your friends and family or exchanging of presents.

But He promised us His Son - the only way through whom we could reconcile with Him once again.

Christmas is more than just commercialised. even when it isn't, it totally misses the point when people say that it is the season of giving.

i think its the season of worship and thanksgiving. i am happy that Christmas is coming, but i am also eternally grateful that on Christmas, man received the greatest gift in history. a gift we can never repay.

it may sound cliched, but yet while we look forward to the holiday season, to the parties and food, let us remember to invite our Guest of Honour for this holiday, whose Name is the first six letters of the season.

if Christmas is without Christ, well then i don't want it. but i thank God that Christmas is all about Him.

:: Psalm 23 ::

The Lord is my Shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.

:: I Said A Prayer For You Today::

I said a prayer for you today
I know God must have heard.
I felt the answer in my heart
Although He spoke no word.

I didn't ask for wealth or fame
I knew you wouldn't mind.
I asked Him to send treasures
Of a far more lasting kind.

I asked that He'd be near you
At the start of each new day.
To grant you health and blessings
And friends to share your way.

I asked for happiness for you
In all things great and small,
But it was for His loving care
I prayed the most of all.

O Love that wilt not let me go,
I rest my weary soul in thee;
I give thee back the life I owe,
That in thine ocean depths its flow
May richer, fuller be.

O light that followest all my way,
I yield my flickering torch to thee;
My heart restores its borrowed ray,
That in thy sunshine's blaze its day
May brighter, fairer be.

O Joy that seekest me through pain,
I cannot close my heart to thee;
I trace the rainbow through the rain,
And feel the promise is not vain,
That morn shall tearless be.

O Cross that liftest up my head,
I dare not ask to fly from thee;
I lay in dust life's glory dead,
And from the ground there blossoms red
Life that shall endless be.

took this off nita's blog. =)

If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, even if we don't speak often, please post a comment with a memory of you and me. It can be anything you want - good or bad. When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your online journal (if you've got one) and be surprised (or mortified) about what people remember about you.

Descant

Will your anchor hold
In the storms of life?
When the clouds unfold
Their wings of strife?
When the strong tides lift
And the cables strain
Will your anchor drift,
Or firm remain?

We have an anchor
That keeps the soul
Steadfast and sure
While the billows roll
Fastened to the Rock
Which cannot move
Grounded firm and deep
In the Saviour's love
